Did You Know?

Designed in 1868, inaugurated in 1870, with palm trees planted in 1871, La Coisette in Cannes (now about 3km in length) actually took on its present-day shape and design only after substantial renovation work in 1899. The name "La Croisette" is said to have come from the Provençal word 'crouseto' meaning 'little cross' which used to stand on the tip of the Pointe de la Croisette where once stood an ancient fishing village from where pilgrims embarked for the monastery on the island of St. Honorat.
