Between Nice and Menton, nature has only made a little transition between the relief of the Pre-Alps and the waters of the Mediterranean. This steep plunge of the land into the sea has allowed three cliff roads to be built one above the other, along the coast. The 'Grande Corniche' (D2564) road and the highest, goes through Roquebrune, La Turbie and the Col des Quatre Chemins, with magnificent views over the coast and Nice. The 'Moyenne Corniche' (N7) road goes to the village of Eze. The 'Basse Corniche' (N98) road crosses Monaco and then goes along the coast, thus giving access to coastal sites and villages like Beaulieu, St Jean-Cap Ferrat and Villefranche-sur-Mer. |
