The word 'Insolite' in French means odd, unusual and out of the ordinary and along the French Riviera there are quite a few odd and unusual artifacts and buildings. I should say that while I must have seen them on my forays over these past years, they never struck me as being out of place but rather part of the history of the Côte d'Azur. I had become complacent and while I saw - I was no longer noticing or questioning - what was it doing there and why?

Thankfully, after reading about the cannon balls in old Nice and going off to find them for myself, I took stock of what I knew and had blindly accepted as normal; and much like a treasure trail laden with clues I discovered some fascinating sites and equally fascinating stories.

I hope you'll enjoy some of the little treasures I've uncovered so far and will look for them yourself when you are next here. And of course, I shall be adding to La Côte d'Azur Insolite as I continue my search for more unusual items - so do come back from time to time to see what else I've uncovered.
