Does the Mediterranean Sea have tides? |

Yes, the Mediterranean Sea does have tides but they are of a very low amplitude of a few centimetres flowing from East Mediterranean to West and back again. However, the entrance to the sea at Gibraltar (known as the Straits of Gibraltar) is too narrow (14km/9 miles wide) and thus no tidal water can get past them into the Atlantic Ocean. This oceanographic effect makes the Mediterranean Sea appear rather like a lake and also explains why there is a fairly constant water temperature of 13°C/55°F during the winter months.
