The Monks of the Abbaye de Lérins began producing wine after their arrival on this small Mediterranean island, just off the coast of Cannes, in 400AD. Today, this tradition continues with the production and selling of their wines (clairette, chardonnay, syrah mourvedre) and liqueurs (yellow and green Lerina , mandarine and "Lerincello" made with lemons from Menton), and Eaux de Vie.
