Mike has been involved in the travel industry in one way or another since leaving school in the UK. When the grey skies and the gloom of Harold Wilson's government became too depressing, he sailed to Cape Town to begin a new life under the sunny skies of Southern Africa and soon found himself in Rhodesia, in the good old days (his words!) when Ian Smith was talking about the rule of the white man in Rhodesia lasting a thousand years. He claims to have 'grown up' in South Africa, but adds that many who know him would question if he ever grew up at all.Mike ended up working for a large travel company in Spain and then, despite not being a Francophile, in Sophia Antipolis, where he was richly rewarded with company paid trips all over the world and the variety of working in a truly multinational environment. He recently gave all this up to get on with the better things in life.
