Know what you want - and find out how to get it
“Occasionally in life there are those moments of unutterable fulfillment which cannot be completely explained by those symbols called words. Their meanings can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.
In France, September signals the “rentree” - the return to normal life following the sweet indulgences of summer and the month of August annual holiday. A new beginning. Fresh choices. Clear intentions. A time to take a language class, painting or pottery; to join a choir or a dance group; to take up that subscription to the gym and get fit. The days are drawing in. The longer evenings invite us to pursue new avenues for our fulfillment.So how do we make the choices that will lead us to experience greater fulfillment? The simple answer is to listen to your heart.
“A promise is a cloud; fulfillment is rain”

Ever since I began working with people in 1979, I made it a point to focus on what I would call the “Inner Beauty” that each of us embodies. What I focus upon is what I find, no matter the dilemma the person might be experiencing when they came to see me. Dilemmas have a way of coming and going. Beauty remains intact. Beauty might be defined as strengths or qualities, but it goes beyond anything words can describe. Beauty is found in the spiritual heart. Your Beauty can be known by you; it is recognized by others.
The Cote d’Azur offers extraordinary beauty at any time of the year. The colours of the sea and sky, the summer flowers, mimosa in spring, the scents, flavours of the cuisine and in the sunshine, the happiness and well-being that characterize those who are fortunate enough to live here. To awaken to more of the Beauty within you, focus on, and attune to, the beauty around you,
“I have wandered all my life, and I have also traveled;
the difference between the two being this,
that we wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfillment”
Hilaire Belloc

There is an old school of thought - actually many current educational systems - that teach us to focus on gaining what we want to have: house, car, holiday, financial security for example. Then we can do what we want to do and thus find fulfilment.
There is another way. It goes: BE, DO, HAVE.
1. BE who you are - start with that BEauty. Get to know your personal values, the qualities and strengths that make you unique; what inspires, motivates and makes you tick. BEing asks that you take time away from the doing to be still and listen. You could be a tourist through life or one who stops to savour and celebrate the joys of the journey.
The word fulfilment has the full-feel-ing in it. When you feel the fullness of the Beauty that you are, that is fulfilment. You may slow down, stop and take a deep breath to feel this fullness. In this Beauty, you can lift above mundane concerns to view yourself and your life from a higher perspective; to become inspired by your heart.
“It is not in the pursuit of happiness that we find fulfillment,
it is in the happiness of pursuit.”
Denis Waitley

2. DO the things you love to do with the natural gifts, talents and aptitudes that bless you. Learn about yourself and the world in which you live. Enjoy the unique contribution that you have to give that others may celebrate your Beauty made visible.
Strange de Jim, author of Visioning, wrote:
First find what you most enjoy doing,
what unleashes the most creative forces from within you,
and then let people pay you to do it.
3. HAVE the time of your life. Be clear about your needs. They may be rather fewer than you think. Consider your wants - this is not a recipe to feel deprived or lacking. And your desires? Entertain them. The desires of your heart can lead you to wonderful experiences of great joy, learning and fulfilment.
“Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life;
everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment.
Therein he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated,
thus, everyone's task is unique as his specific opportunity.”
Viktor Frankl

If you are on the Cote d’Azur while you are reading this, you do not have to go far to find for yourself a place of great beauty. If you are not in this region, you have even less far to go: simply go through the pages of this magazine and absorb the beauty you see and read here.
What you focus upon is what you will receive more of. Treat yourself to BEing with more of the Beauty that you are, and allow your path of fulfillment to reveal itself to you.
